Ford released one of its ace models to the thirstiest segment of Indian automotive market back in 2010. It took less than few weeks for Ford Figo to turn around the fortune of the company in India. Within 100 days from the launch, customers booked over 25,000 Ford Figo cars. There was an abrupt increase in overall car sales volume of the company. The half-yearly sales figures of the company showed an increase in sales by more than 200% as compared to the year before. Ford which was not very successful in hatchback market till then became famous with the middle class crowd of India.

The car is simple in its looks and practical in space and performance which are the core aspects for a vehicle. It is a brilliant automobile built particularly for Indian consumers. With the signature of Ford, the vehicle has been one of the strong contenders in hatchback segment of our country.

Ford Figo is a lively car and certain design traits in particular areas of face and tail make it distinguishable from other vehicles. The large eye-like headlamps, bulged fenders, black air dam unit on front bumper and striking alloy wheels add boldness to the small car. Like in Ford Fusion, the rear of this vehicle slopes down drastically in a straight line. The tail lamp stretches long over this slope adding uniqueness to Figo. The sheet metal body has gone through machining process to get smooth curves on edges and corners which make the car more acceptable.

The cabin of Ford Figo is more practical in its essence when compared to its exterior. The company has emphasized on comfort and ergonomics and not much on aesthetics. The dashboard is straight in its appearance and has good material composition. A large instrument panel sits behind the steering wheel which has both digital and analog meters. The audio system positioned on central console is well within the reach of driver and front passenger. The company may have gone wrong in positioning the control buttons of audio system on steering column though. The seats have good cushioning and with colour options for fabric, they look more attractive and add flavor to the cabin. The company made changes to this automobile for 2012 release. The cabin received insulation which has reduced noise levels in the interior.

Ford Figo houses Duratec and Duratorq engines which are part of other Ford models like Fiesta. The 1.2L Duratec is a petrol engine which delivers 71 PS of power at 6250 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The 1.4L Duratorq motors run on Common Rail Injection system and have power rating as 69 PS and torque rating being 160 Nm. The car simply glides through streets when it comes to mid range and higher range speeds. Hydraulic power assisted steering coupled to a spirited engine adds more life to each journey and the driver receives highest honor in this regard. Anti-lock Braking System and air bags come as standard features with Titanium models of Figo.
