Mitsubishi Used Cars- The 2006 Lancer

on

Mitsubishi decided in 2003 to take a shot at the Canadian market even though a lot of foreign automakers have tried in the late 90’s early 2000’s with complete failure. The one thing Mitsubishi had in its favour was it had been in the U.S. selling under the Dodge and Chrysler brands with some success. Used Cars like the Mitsubishi Lancer was the companies most efficient and practical automobile it had in its fleet of vehicles and so this would be the one to be introduced to Canada in 2003. My research will be on the Mitsubishi Lancer as a used vehicle to look at.

The Lancer is a four door sedan that ranges from entry level to high performance sport models. All Lancer models come standard with a manual transmission and automatic transmissions are made available for the ES, O-Z and Ralliart. ABS brakes come standard on the MR, EVO IX and the Ralliart. Other models have the option to add ABS brakes if needed. Some other safety features that come standard with the Ralliart are front side airbags and optional on the O-Z and ES models. Sport suspension and Evo style front seats come standard with the Ralliart model. Evo trims have a racing inspired design with sports suspension and this comes standard in these models.

There were several different fuel statistics for the various engine sizes the Lancer as to offer. The base engine had a fuel rating of 8.7-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.4-litres, per 100km, for highway driving (manual transmission). The base (automatic transmission) engine had a fuel rating of 9.4-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.0-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The Ralliart engine had a fuel rating of 10.1-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.4-litres, per 100km, for highway driving (manual transmission).

Used cars like the Lancer have different engine sizes for the various models it has to offer. The ES, LS and O-Z have a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre engine and this produces 120 horsepower. The Ralliart has a 2.4-litre engine and this produces 162 horsepower under the hood.

Let’s look at some of the pros and cons of the Mitsubishi Lancer as a used vehicle:

1- I could not find any information on the Lancers reliability as a used vehicle when looking online to various consumer protection websites.
2- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it a four star rating for driver and front passenger protection, in a crash test done to it.

I hope this information helps when looking at the Mitsubishi Lancer as your next used vehicle.
