The Ferrari 458 Italia has been one of the hottest and most popular super cars since it was first brought to the market. It’s sleek and curvaceous styling coupled with its outstanding performance has made it a popular choice amongst automotive enthusiasts wealthy enough to be able to afford the super car. Ferrari also created the 458 Spider to meet the high demand of customers and it’s more than your average convertible. Engineers worked to create a car that stayed true to the brand’s identity and engineered the convertible components to accommodate sport and performance without adding unnecessary weight. One UK based aftermarket tuning company wanted to make the convertible variant of the super car even more exciting so they created a new performance upgrade package for the Ferrari 458 Italia that includes new body work, engine upgrades, and a new chassis featuring forged COR Wheels.
The UK based aftermarket car tuning company first decided to upgrade the exterior of the Ferrari 458 Spider. The team first designed and developed a few carbon fiber aerodynamic pieces for the body of the super car in order to improve overall stability, create downforce, and improve cooling. The front bumper was given a new spoiler lip that channels air towards the front brakes and creates downforce at the front axle. A pair of fender additions adds a touch of style while side skirts run all the way to the rear COR Wheels and redirect air away from them for better drag properties. The rear of the convertible was outfitted with a subtle spoiler to improve the downforce while a new diffuser insert helps to keep the rear end plated at high speeds. The 458 Spider was then finished off with a new matte blue wrap.
The team then decided to upgrade the chassis of the super car convertible in order to complement the new style and achieve better performance. The team added a new lowering sport suspension that reduces the center of gravity and sharpens up handling for better overall performance. The factory rim and tire setup was removed and replaced with a new set of COR Wheels with a 21-inch diameter at the front and rear axles. The forged wheels were each given a set of Pirelli high performance tires for added grip.
Behind the driver and passenger is a modified 4.5-liter V-8 engine that was given a number of performance inducing accessories. The engine was outfitted with a new air intake system to draw in cold air, a full titanium exhaust system that optimizes backpressure and reduces overall weight, and then an ECU tune to make sure everything runs well together. The result is a total of 600 horsepower and 450 lb-ft. of torque being sent to the rear COR Wheels.
