When it Comes to Classic Car Restoration Like the Jaguar, Restore the Car Don’t Change the Ride!

on

In an era where reality car shows that “Fix Up My Ride” may be entertaining, I truly believe in a way it makes a mockery of what a car was intended to be….a natural beauty. The other day I watched as they took a beautiful car such as the Jaguar XK-E and turned it into some sort of absurd creation with 20 inch rims, flat screen TVs, and a stereo system with enough woofer power to drop bass on drums from here to Chicago….boom, booom, boooom! I’m sure when Jaguar created the XK-E way back in the 60’s they never imagined that it would eventually be “tricked out or completely changed” years later.

Jaguar cars are known to have the distinct contemporary design and Jaguar makers are known for producing a car with a sleek contemporary design to last for ages like a fine wine, especially the XK-E. It is one of the distinct models produced during an era where the sporty image managed to capture the loyalty of all car enthusiasts and royalty worldwide. A natural beauty that should be left alone whether it be 1960 or 2060, instead just admired from afar and updated to look like the original. According to Wikipedia in March 2008, the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in the Daily Telegraph list of the “100 most beautiful cars” of all time. In 2004, Sports Car International magazine placed the E-Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of 1960’s.

This just goes to show that in an era of doing everything you can to upgrade and change everything about the original style of your car. Whether it be the rims, the shocks, the tires, door seals, the radio, the tint, the engine, or even an exotic paint job. Some things are just a natural beauty from the beginning and should be left alone. You wouldn’t put a tattoo on the neck of the Mona Lisa even though that may be the style today, so why should you do anything to a classic car except restore it to look like it was meant to be…naturally beautiful! Next time you feel the need to change your ride, forget taking it out on the car, just slap yourself…..as hard as possible!
