A Review of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG

on

The Mercedes Benz fraternity is going all out in the production of high class and functional vehicles in the SL class. The newest in the class is the Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG, following closely the SL550 and the SL63. The new SL65 AMG is expected to be unveiled officially at the coming 2012 New York Motor Show. One of the main points that the SL65 comes with is a V12 engine, making this vehicle the fastest SL Mercedes Benz in the market.
To achieve the high performance, the SL65 AMG comes in a 6.0 Liter, twin turbo direct injection V12 engine that produces 621hp and a massive 738lb/ft torque. Additional changes that have been made in this vehicle by the AMG engineers include the fitting of new design turbo chargers that produce 22 psi of boost to the vehicle. New design waste gates, manifolds and cylinder heads have also been instituted to ensure that the engine produces the maximum expected output. Just as in all other Mercedes Models by AMG, the 2013 SL65 will also come with a start and stop eco button.
The SL65 comes with a 7 speed automatic gearbox, a notable change as most of the other AMG’s in the line come with a 5 speed gearbox. For even greater pleasure in driving, there are various driving modes that you can choose from such as controlled efficiency, Manual, Sport and Sport Plus. With the changes made in the new 2013 SL65, it is expected that it can get from 0-13 in 3.9 seconds or less. To handle balance at high speeds, the AMG is built to have a rear differential axle which in turn transfers all the power from the engine on the tarmac.
The top speed of the SL65 is clocked at 186 mph, just as the speed of the SL63 and it comes with 15.4 inch standard brake discs. These pads need to be changed to carbon ceramic brakes if you plan to have the vehicle on a high speed drive on the tracks.
To ensure of balance in driving and the safety of the vehicle occupants, the SL65 has been built with an electromechanical steering system and an Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system to ensure that the vehicle is in the most stable position when it is being used. The 2013 SL65 comes as lighter, weighing in at 4299 pound, this being 254 pounds than the previous version that is being replaced. This has mainly be shown to be due to the use of light aluminum in the build of the vehicle. The price of the vehicle is expected t start at approximately$199,000. It is expected that the Mercedes Benz SL65will hit show rooms in November 2012.
