on

Concept cars are an area that true car enthusiasts love to keep up to date on, from the impressive range of cars rolled out as prototypes come the cars everybody loves to drive on a daily basis. Kia has grown a rich recent history of being at the forefront of auto design in recent years, a design history that now includes the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America for the Kia GT4 Stinger. This is the latest award to recognize the skills that Kia has recently been developing in creating concept cars.

The IDEA award is one of the most prestigious in the world across a variety of industries, including automotive, computers and the environment, according to a Kia Press Release. IDEA awards are given to those designs that not only possess a deft design touch and unique styling, but are thought to be forward thinkers in the way they improve the quality of life of the user, work with sustainable materials and possess excellent design style.

Designed in the California based studios operated by Kia, the GT4 Stinger is a combination of the best in modern style and classic design that took the breath of car enthusiasts away when it was revealed at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The most impressive aspect of this vehicle is its ability to be used for everyday driving or for days at the track when its impressive 4 cylinder 2 liter turbocharged engine, producing 315 horsepower can be used to its maximum potential.

Ask any car enthusiast and they will tell you that concept sports cars are always powerful, but the GT4 Stinger is based on proven technology developed for the track by Kia Motors. The race proven engine sits inside an impressive body design that adds sleek, modern lines to the classic rear wheel drive sports car concept. The GT4 Stinger is a road ready machine that has been awarded the Silver IDEA because it can produce a large amount of power, but is ready for street use where it will turn heads as it is driven to the office or to run daily errands.

The GT4 Stinger weighs in at just less than 2,800 pounds, which makes it one of the lightest two door sports cars around. The lightweight design does not take away from any of the included design features; instead the low hood meets pedestrian impact design standards and flows effortlessly to the front brake cooling ducts. Keeping the classic grill used by Kia on the front of this beautiful concept sports car makes sure everybody knows this is a Kia, but also breaks new ground in what it means to be a Kia driver.
