Kia Used Cars- The Sorento

on

Kia used cars like there Sorento SUV was introduced to the North American auto space back in 2003. This is a mid-size SUV that stands out because it is one of a few SUVs in that segment of the auto industry that does not use a car platform to base its design on. The Kia Sorento competes against the likes of the Nissan Pathfinder, Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4 just to name a few. My research will be on the Kia Sorento as a used vehicle to look at.

This mid-size SUV holds five people-plus two. The speedometer and engine gauges are easy to use as well as the climate controls, audio system, and navigation system from the center console. Some of the safety features that come standard with all Sorento models are anti-lock brakes, stability control and hill assist control (this helps to prevent the vehicle from rolling back). Other safety features are frontal and side impact air bags for front row seats and curtain airbags for second row seats. The SX model offers a rear view camera for backing up as well. Overall the Kia Sorento is perfect for a small family.

There were two different fuel statistics for the different engine sizes that the Sorento offered from 2003 to 2011. The older models had a 3.5- litre engine and this had a fuel rating of 16-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 11-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. Newer models either had the 3.8 litre or 3.3 litre engine. Both had similar fuel ratings of 14-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 10-litres, per 100km for highway driving.

There are several different engines sizes the Sorento had from 2003 and on. In 2003 the Kia Sorento had a V6, 3.5-litre engine and this produced 192 horsepower with 217 pounds, per feet of torque. In 2007 it changed it engine size to a V6, 3.8-litre engine and this produced 262 horsepower with 260 pounds, per feet of torque. In 2008 it added a V6, 3.3-litre engine to the line up.

Let’s look at some pros and cons of the kia Sorento as a used vehicle:

1- An online leading consumer watchdog reports that older models have mechanical problems and some drive system problems.
2- Kia Sorentos from all years are prone to having the brake rotors warping.
3- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave a four star rating for a frontal crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if you’re looking at Kia used cars like the Sorento.
