Mercedes-Benz Used Cars- The M-Class As A Used SUV

on

Mercedes-Benz used cars like there M-Class SUV was first introduced to North America back in 2002. The Mercedes-Benz motor corporation like other German automakers were late in coming to the lucrative SUV segment of the auto industry compared to the likes of General Motors, Ford and Dodge. This vehicle was built for people who wanted a SUV with toughness but yet the luxury of a fine German sedan. Mercedes-Benz decided to use two different engines for both power and fuel economy and this gave the consumer a choice of either a V6 for fuel savings or a V8 for power. My research will be on The M-Class as a used SUV to look at.

The Mercedes M-Class seats five people with a rear seat that can fold to give more space for cargo, there is also an option for a third row seat that seats two people. Leather seats only come standard with the ML500 and the ML55 AMG; you can however get the option to add leather seats to the ML320. The dashboard is a typical Mercedes-Benz layout with a five inch touch screen that controls climate, telephone, audio system and the GPS navigation system that comes with the ML500 and the ML55 AMG models.

Fuel statistics vary for the different models the M-Class has to offer. In 2002 the ML320 had a fuel rating of 15.2-litres, per 100km for city driving and 11.6-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The ML 500 had a fuel rating of 16.8-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 12.8-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. In 2003 the ML350 had a fuel rating of15.5-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 12-litres, per 100km, for highway driving.

Engine sizes vary with different models that the M-Class has to offer. In 2002 the ML500 had a V8, 5.0-litre engine and this produced 288 horsepower. The ML320 had a V6, 3.2-litre engine and this produced 215 horsepower. In 2003 the ML350 had a 3.5-litre engine and this produced 254 horsepower.

Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class as a used vehicle:

1- There is problems with faulty electrical components
2- There are problems with brakes and suspension issues
3- They have bad fuel economy for both city and highway driving.
4- I was given a good rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for a frontal crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if you’re looking at Mercedes-Benz used cars like the M-Class.
