Nissan Micra has Travelled a Long way from 1992 till date

on

The Nissan Micra was introduced in the UK in 1992; it is Nissan’s super mini model. The first generation Micra was an instant and massive hit with UK car buyers, 343,411 models were sold in just under 10 years! Out of the 343,411 first generation Micras it is reported that almost 96,421 of them are still on the road.

The second generation Micra was launched in 1992; it was built in the UK at the Nissan plant in Sunderland. Due to its ease of driving and fuel economy it too became a very popular model amongst us Brits. In 2002 the second generation was replaced by the third, it too was built at the Sunderland plant. UK production of the Micra came to a halt in 2010, when the new model was launched. Instead of the Micra the new Nissan Juke is produced at the Sunderland plant.

With the volume of sales there are loads of Nissan Micra deals around both on new as well as used cars. The latest Micra model was launched in 2010; it is built in 5 different countries globally. Because of its predecessor’s success the new Micra will be sold in more than 160 countries!

The new Micra comes with a 1.2 litre petrol engine with a power output of 79bhp. It’s not lightning fast; it hasn’t been designed to be. It’s a city car so most of the torque from the engine sits low down in the rev range, making it a joy to drive.

The suspension and ride in the new Micra are as good as the old one; it is comfortable but not too wobbly around slow speed bends. Once on the motorway some road and wind noise do enter the cabin, but you have to keep reminding yourself that this car is made for city driving not motorway cruising.
