Nissan Teana – A Pricey But Worthy Choice

on

Nissan Teana is a luxury sedan from the house of the Japanese automaker – Nissan Motors Limited. This classic sedan was first introduced in Japan in the year 2002 and in the Indian markets later in 2007. More updated versions of this car have come out since then.
The name Teana comes from a Native American word meaning €dawn’, as it represents the rise of a new luxury car from Nissan. The new Teana, along with its refreshed look, is equipped with a powerful engine and advanced technology.

A tough 2496 cc VQ25DE V6 petrol engine that has the capacity to produce a massive power of 185 bhp at 6000 RPM and a torque of 228 NM at 4400 RPM is what is on offer here. This engine is mated to a smooth shifting XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The car can go from 0-100 km per hour in just 12 seconds and can hit a maximum speed of 200 miles per hour. The wide wheelbase and fine suspension system help the vehicle to stay composed at all speeds and on any type of roads. The NVH levels are low and the ride and handling are rated good. However, Teana may find more buyers in India, had there been a diesel version of this car.

Nissan Teana looks advanced with its chrome coated front grille, bulged out bumper, sunroof with electric tilt, the uniquely shaped LED lights, tail lamps and fog lamps. The interiors look rich with excellent leather and wood finish. The car is quite comfortable for five adults with ample shoulder room and knee space. It has a boot capacity of 476 liters, which is admirable.

The rigid body frame design along with other features like dual airbags in the front, Anti lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Distribution, cruise control and keyless entry actually makes the car safer. Other interesting features include LED illuminated central console, cruise and audio controls mounted power steering, power shades, dual climate zones, automatic climate control, rear cup holders, electrically powered seats, powered rear sunshade and active head and arm rests. There is a six speaker audio system in the car as well, including a CD changer, MP3 compatibility, push button MP3 compatibility, push button start, intelligent key system etc.

Nissan Teana 250 XL and Nissan Teana 250 XV are the two variants available in the market now. They fall in the price range of about Rs. 21 to Rs. 25 lakh. Nissan Teana is competing with the Honda Accord, Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, BMW 3-series and the Mercedes C class, all of which are running successfully in India. Nissan really needs to review on its pricing to outdo the competition.
