The Evolution Of The Mitsubishi Montero

on

In the United States, the Japanese motor company Mitsubishi is known for smaller vehicles, but those residents who live in Europe and Asia have long been familiar with their SUV that is truly built for driving off-road. The Montero has made a name for itself in recent years, as it has earned several trophies in various SUV categories around the world.

The Mitsubishi Montero has been on the American market for nearly 30 years, and though it has recently become more upscale, it has always remained a true 4-wheel drive. This means that it does come with some great extra features, such as shocks that can be adjusted.

The first edition of the Mitsubishi Montero was not a style that Americans were looking for upon release, since it was higher off the ground. This particular generation of the Japanese SUV utilized style and features that did not attract Americans at the time. It did not help that it did not have the desired power or interior room, combined with its unfortunate reputation for rolling over when taking turns at high speeds.

The second generation of the Mitsubishi Montero was sold in the market between the years 2001 and 2006 and did have some different designs from the previous generation, the most important being its body style and an independent suspension system. This was supposed to make this vehicle the best Montero ever built, and it was at that time. It handled the bumps on the road much better while keeping its off road capabilities up to par. However, it still had the same engine, so it handled as it had before with the same slow pickup as the previous model.

Enter the current generation of Montero. In terms of the interior, the front seats of the third generation of Mitsubishi Montero are ergonomic, upscale, and very comfortable. It compares well to some of the higher class of SUV sold in the U.S. today in this regard. It also has great storage space if you are using it for traveling or hauling large items.

If you are looking for a Montero as your new vehicle, it is highly recommended that you look for a model year later than 2003. The newer model car has a larger engine so that it has a better ability to pick up speeds faster. Because previous models had a bad reputation for rolling over on turns, a system to help control its stability was put into later models as a safety feature, making it a fun and safe vehicle for you and your entire family.
