When Volkswagen built the Amarok Pickup truck, it was received with a lot of positivity in the market as a vehicle that would help in the hauling of various simple loads. This however was faulted as a vehicle that could not handle the extremes and it if from this that Volkswagen built the Amarok Canyon Concept. In this new vehicle from VW, there are no boundaries to where it is that you may expect to go, as the design and build of the vehicle is quite robust.
The inspiration of the design of this vehicle according to Volkswagen is freestyle kayaking, a method of kayaking where kayaker look for an almost vertical wave and ride on this wave to do awesome freestyle moves on their boards. On the overall outlook, the VW Amarok Canyon concept is seen as a vehicle that is designed mainly as the Amarok pickup truck but with some little tweak s to make it stand out.
To help the vehicle achieve the design concept that honors freestyle kayaking, the vehicle comes with a ground clearance of 1.6 inches. This is achieved through the use of larger off road tires. These tires come at 3.3 inches wider than the standard tires. These tires come in 18 inches of height and are 65- series off road tires sitting in larger wheel arches by 1.4 inches. If you are a short person and would like to enjoy driving in this vehicle, it comes with retractable side steps that make boarding o the vehicle an easy task.
The power of the vehicle is provided by a 2.0 liter, twin turbo and a four cylinder diesel engine that produces 178 horsepower and 295 pounds/feet of torque. As is common to many off-road trucks, the Amarok Canyon Concept comes with a drive option for all the four wheels. This truck also comes with a low range gear box and a locking gear differential that is needed, especially in low traction areas and some off-road conditions when driving.
The default color for the Amarok Canyon concept does not disappoint in any way, being an off-road vehicle. The color is Baladi Orange and with its rims which come in a high gloss color that is referred by the maker VW as €High gloss Adamantium Dark’. For a complete experience in driving this truck at any time, it comes with auxiliary lights at the top of the rail and all that come in the same shade as the vehicle color. The bed is made of carbon fiber for longest durability.
