The 2012 Porsche Cayman R is actually going to go on sale come next spring and it is a new version from Porsche coming along the line of the newly introduced Boxster Spyder.
This particular Cayman has pure driving dynamics, it is light and powerful. With a light weight that makes this Cayman to weigh about 121 pounds less than the standard Cayman, this Porsche is certainly a great sport vehicle. This Porsche car has a highly tuned sports suspension and its light weight makes driving more enjoyable and precise than with the Cayman S.
It was around November of 2010 during the Auto show at LA that Porsche actually revealed this Cayman which according to them was to go into sale around February the following year (2011) and $66,300 was suppose to be its base price.
The Cayman will actually have a similar fuel injection engine like that of the Cayman S but it is set to produce more horsepower (about 10 times more). It also has a 6-speed manual transmission and so it can go to 60mph in 4.7 seconds right from a standstill. Another feature of this Cayman is its 7-speed dual-clutch and it also has a top track speed which has a manual transmission of 175 mph. These features certainly make this particular 2012 Porsche Cayman R to be much better than the Cayman S.
According to Porsche, they actually had a concept that led to the proper execution of this Cayman R. Their main objective behind this concept was that through a systematic weight reduction they will be able to increase driving dynamics, performance and agility. Porsche engineers where actually able to realize a ratio of 8.58lbs per hp in terms of power to weight. While the use of lightweight parts and components together with the fact that certain standard equipments which are not directly associated with an improved motoring performance where not included reveals the source of the light weight of this 2012 Porsche Cayman R.
This Cayman R has a lower center of gravity which can be traced to its sports suspension system and both the A/C and stereo where also removed. Other great features of this 2012 Porsche Cayman R include front and rear spoilers, a standard slip differential and 19-inch lightweight wheel.
Other features which contribute to the lightweight of this 2012 Porsche Cayman R are its aluminum door, its interior door panels and its carbon fiber sport seats. One can easily see the unique appearance of this Cayman R from its halogen headlights with black frames and its side Porsche stripes. All these features make it very evident while this particular Cayman R comes top and is said to be a 2012 model even though it was released in 2011. Its great features only go to vindicate Porsche for saying the Cayman R is actually a 2012 model car.
