A Quick Recap to the History of BMW 3 Series

These vehicles were manufactured in five generations and also offered in five different body styles. The 3 Series model was produced in different platforms namely, BMW E21 during the period 1975 to 1983, BMW E30 during the period 1983 to 1994, BMW E36 during 1991 to 2000, and BMW E46 during 1998 to 2007.

Later on, the 3 series cars were marketed as BMW E90 from 2005 till date as a 3-Series sedan model, BMW E91 from 2006 till date as a 3 series touring model, BMW E91 from the year 2007 to present as a 3 Series Coupe model and BMW E93 from the year 2007 to present as a 3 Series Convertible model.

The 3-series cars have been amongst the most affordable ones, from the house of BMW (though none of them are really economical by any means).

The model E21 was announced on 2nd May, 1975 and was launched in the year 1977 in the United States of America. The first 3 Series model from BMW was only a two door model. The model E30 was in market from the year 1982 and was sold as a sedan till 1991 and was also available as convertible from the model year 1993.

The E21 model was released in the wake of oil crisis in the year 1973, attracting people looking both economy and prestige. The sales of the BMW world wide doubled its figures in 3 years and won several honors and awards.
