Lexus Used Cars – Looking at the RX As a Used Vehicle

on

Lexus used cars like the RX was part of the luxury automakers first entry into the sport utility market place. Back before the RX was launched in 1997, the Toyota Motor Corporation decided it had to compete against BMW, Mercedes and Cadillac in every field of the auto industry. If Lexus was going to be taken serious as another luxury brand, it had to compete and build just as good or even better vehicles than its competitors. The RX was brought into production because all of Lexus’s major competitors were already in this field. I did my research on this model because of all the good things you here about the Lexus brand. My research will be on how the RX stands up as a used vehicle.

Lexus RX used cars:

The RX is a mid-size SUV that has a very nice interior to it. I looked at models from 2000 to 2008 and even thou there are two different generations of vehicles with in that time span, these vehicles basically look the same. The RX has beautiful wood trim throughout the vehicle and it`s leather seats are of the highest grade. The speedometer and engine gauges are easy to read and the center console is easy to use. This model comes standard with power steering, power windows, am-fm radio, heating-air, ABS brakes and CD player, just to name a few.

I found some fuel statistics for the different models that Lexus had to offer over the years from 2000 to 2008. The earlier RX models had a fuel consumption of 13-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 9.7-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. The 3.3-litre engine had a fuel rating of 12.8-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 8.5-litre, per 100km for highway driving.

Engine sizes vary over the years. The first RX model had a V6, 3.0-litre engine and this came in a four speed automatic transmission, this also has the option of either front wheel or all-wheel drive. In 2004 it was given a new motor that had a V6, 3.3-litre engine. This was a five speed automatic transmission and had the option for either front wheel or all-wheel drive.

Let`s look at the pros and cons of the Lexus RX as a used vehicle:

1- There are problems with the brake boosters in the 2004 models.
2- There is a problem with the engines electronic idle system, in which it leaves the car idling a little rough.
3- It was give a “good rating“ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety organization for a frontal crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if your thinking of buying Lexus used cars like the RX.
