Nissan Underdog of the Car Industry

on

Nissan Motors Company Ltd, also known as to Nissan is a multinational automaker headquartered in Japan. It was formerly a Key partner of the Nissan Group, but has become more independent after it’s restructuring under Carlos Ghosn (CEO).
Nissan was formerly known for marketing vehicles under the “Datsun” brand name and is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. As of 2011, the company’s Corporate Headquarters is located in Nishi-ku, Yokohama. In 1999, Nissan entered a corporate partnership with Renault S.A. of France, which owns 43.4% of Nissan while Nissan holds 15% of Renault shares, as of 2008. The current market share of Nissan is one of the largest of the automotive firms based in Asia that have been increasingly encroaching on the historically dominant US-based “Big Three” consisting of GM, Ford and Chrysler. In its home market, Nissan is number three largest car manufacturer, with Honda being second by a small margin of 2,000 units and Toyota in a very dominant first. Along with its normal range of models, Nissan also produces luxury models branded as Infiniti.
Some of their more famous cars are the Nissan Altima which is a mid-size automobile manufactured by Nissan, and has a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1957. It has historically been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra but less powerful then the Nissan Maxima. The Altima brand is available in North America as well as the Middle Eastern Markets. In other markets, Nissan sells a car that is related to the mid-size sedan called the Nissan Teana, which uses one of the same FF-L platforms used by the 2002-2006 Nissan Altima.
The name “Altima” which refers to the trim line of the Nissan Laurel mid-size car sold in Central America and the Caribbean before 1992. In 1993, Nissan discontinued its much-criticized Stanza, replacing it with the US-made Altima. The very first Altima rolled off the assembly line on June 15, 1992, as a 1993 model. All Altimas had been built in Smyrna, Tennessee, until June 2004, when Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi, plant began producing additional Altimas to meet high demand.
Another popular model under the Nissan name is the 240SX which is a two-door compact car that was introduced to the North American market by Nissan in 1988 for the following model year. It replaced the 200SX model. All versions of the 240SX were fitted with the 2.4-liter inline 4 engine (KA24E from 1989-1990 and KA24DE from 1991-1998). Two distinct generations of the 240SX, the S13 (1989-1994) and the S14 (1995-1998), were produced using the Nissan S platform. The 240SX is closely related to other S platform based vehicles, such as the Japanese-market Silvia and 180SX, and the European-market 200SX. In conclusion Nissan is one of the three most powerful Auto manufacturing companies in the world.
