Porsche, short form of Porsche Automobil Holding SE, is a German holding company, which has investments in the automotive industry. Headquartered in Zuffenhausen, in the district of Stuttgart, Baden-Wrttemberg, the company is owned by the Porsche families. Porsche was established as Dr. Ing. H.c. F. Porsche GmbH (Doktor Ingenieur honoris causa Ferdinand Porsche), by Ferdinand Porsche and his son-in-law Anton Pi«ch in the year 1931 in Stuttgart.

Initially, Porsche did not produce any cars in its name. They were into consulting and offered Motor vehicle department works. When the German government asked the company to design a car, which was named Volkswagen, Porsche designed the Volkswagen Beetle for them. That Beetle sports one of the most successful car designs in the world is a well-known fact. This also marked the start of an unbroken relationship between Volkswagen and Porsche. The relation is intertwined, that Porsche SE owns Volkswagen while the control of Porsche AG lies in Volkswagen. As a result, the Porsche SE controls the Volkswagen AG, which in turn controls many famous automobile brands like the Volkswagen, Bugatti, Audi, SEAT, koda, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche AG, Ducati, VW Commercial Vehicles, Saab SCANIA, MAN, and the like.

Porsche has created a niche for itself and it is the Dr. Ing. H.c. F. Porsche AG, which is responsible for the real production and manufacture of the Porsche cars. At present, Porsche produces luxury cars like the Porsche 911 and Boxster along with the Cayman sports car – Cayenne, Macan SUVs and the four-door Panamera.

Porsche cars are known for their quality and premium value. They are one of the most loved and appreciated cars across the world. Very often, they are considered as the last word in luxury. Hence, it is no wonder that when one comes across this car, the heart skips a beat!
