With all the introduction to Cobb Tuning at home comeback to producing very difficult parts, their anticipated release of a bypass valve is made welcome. Many of us have been waiting for a valve that’s easy to adjust, sounds great and works 100% which has no surging on the turbo compressor.

Question: So exactly what a BPV and what exactly the difference between a BOV ( Blow off valve ) including a BPV (Bypass Valve)?

Answer: A simple.. It all boils down to irrespective of whether your car runs on speed density or huge air. If you contain a car that is speed density, you will not need a mass air meter. For that reason, effectively, you can run some sort of Blow Off Valve which discharge a very loud WHOOSH sound whilst you shift gears when during boost. A Bypass Valve takes that boosted fresh air its venting, and recirculates it back to the intake. The importance of this on a size air car is, that air was already metered and counted, so, venting that air towards the atmosphere will cause your can going rich. You are effectively the removal of air once counted and letting it blow in the air, so the car is likely to add more fuel thinking that air is still arriving. Many enthusiast prefer the sound on the BOV, but generally they find yourself doing damage to their catalytic converters because the rich conditions incorporated into doing a VTA ( Vent For you to Atmosphere ) system about the MAF equipped car.

Question: Whats the reason for these valves anyways?

Answer:

1) Boosted cars produce tremendous levels of pressurized air that is pumped quickly throughout the intake structure. When the throttle body is open, this air can move before long into the engine. If the throttle body closes, that moving air has no method to go. You have a good amount of air trapped in a smallish place ( charge pipes ) which commonly burst, causing significant marring your intake system and in many cases your cars hood. Upon turbocharged cars especially, its main work as a Bypass Valve (BPV)/Blow From Valve (BOV), is release a this boost pressure to avoid this pressurized air from being diverted back on the way to the turbo impellers. If this pressurized air just isn’t released, the diverted air can cause the turbine wheels to slow and possibly even stall, causing wear and trouble for the turbocharger. A turbochargers impeller wheels can spin much more than over 60, 000 RPM, so generally if the impeller was to neglect, you would see a considerable amount of damage.

2) Its second function is being able to hold peak boost during gear change without getting a significant loss of boost you can event.
