The Alfa Romeo 4C Sports Car With Forged Wheels and Turbo-Four

on

Alfa Romeo has been known throughout automotive history for its ability to make fun, exciting, and great overall drivers cars that combine power, simplicity, style, and handling. Years ago, they pulled out of the United States market due to slow sales success, and automotive enthusiasts there have been yearning for the automaker to return. Now, the Italian automaker is planning to come back to the United States with the introduction of the new Alfa Romeo 4C mid engined sports car. The new sports car will be priced under $90,000 and come with all sorts of innovative technology such as a turbocharged engine, forged wheels, and lightning fast transmission.

The new Alfa Romeo 4C is an important sports car as it represents the sporting nature and athleticism of the brand as it comes back to the United States market. An all-new turbocharged all aluminum four cylinder engine displacing 1.75 liters. The turbocharged engine was designed to keep weight to a minimum and positioned to optimize the weight distribution of the sports car. The engine is capable of producing a total of 240 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and is sent through a six speed dry clutch automated manual transmission that sends power to each of the rear forged wheels. This enables the Alfa Romeo 4C to accelerate to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 mph that’s electronically limited. Drivers can operate the transmission by shifting gears using shift paddles located on the steering wheel.

The design of the car is optimized lightweight performance. Much of the body and internal components are made from aluminum to keep weight to a minimum. This and the use of carbon fiber throughout the sports car, gives it a weight distribution of 38 percent front and 62 percent rear, ensuring that most of the weight is sitting over each of the rear forged wheels that drive the car.

In addition to the lightweight body wrapped in a clean aerodynamically optimized design that takes after the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, the 4C model boasts some lightweight chassis components. The Italian engineers opted for lightweight forged wheels made from aluminum alloy measuring 17 inches up front and 18 inches at the rear, with an optional 18 inch front and 19 inch rear setup available as well. Special ventilated high performance disc brakes developed in conjunction with Brembo measure 305 mm up front and 292 mm at the rear, ensuring the sports car can stop quickly and efficiently.
